Saxon & UFO shared the stage last night at beautiful Belasco Theater in Los Angeles, California. Old rockers and young rockers alike packed the venue in support of two of the most iconic bands in hard rock and heavy metal. The night was filled with such classics like ‘Rock Bottom’, ‘The Power & The Glory’, ‘Lights Out’ and many more.
One of the main highlights of the night was hearing how well the vocals on both original singers Biff Byford (Saxon) & Phil Mogg (UFO) were. Saxon and UFO have been touring since the late 70′s and it is surprising how similar to the records each singer sounded. A lot of older heavy metal acts have suffered from having singers not living up to their glory days but both bands delivered the goods.
Saxon was one of the first bands of the so called “New Wave of British Heavy Metal” scene which started in the late 70′s and early 80′s. Other bands that started with Saxon were ‘Diamond Head’ and the now massive ‘Iron Maiden’.
Saxon released their twenty-first album in 2015 named ‘Battering Ram’. This album and the rest of their classic catalogue is currently available to stream on Spotify.
UFO is one of the most important bands in the world of hard rock and heavy metal. The original line up, which included legendary guitar player Michael Schenker, has been an enormous inspiration to band such as Metallica, Testament, and Iron Maiden.
UFO’s latest album ‘A Conspiracy of Star’ was released in 2015. This album and their classic catalogue is currently available to stream on Spotify.
UFO & Saxon are currently on their North American tour which will finish off on April 2nd in Boston.

England in 1976.
As pioneers of, and at
the forefront of the then New Wave of British Heavy Metal the band enjoyed a period of prominence in the UK (including popular chart success) and Europe in the early 1980s, and later the USA
and Japan.
